Outdoor Idea: Ag History Farm

FYI, this weekend is the Gas & Steam Engine Show at the Ag Farm History Park in Derwood. www.aghistoryfarm.org. (Sat/Sun 10a-5p). We are planning to go for an hour or two as they have live animals, kiddie tractor pull, hayrides, antique cars and trucks... in short, things I think a tot -- especially a little boy -- would like.

Woo hoo!

  1. Evan and I were happy to bump into Jessie, Jim and Gunnar at the Ag History Farm Park on Sunday. Beautiful location only 30 mins away. This coming Sunday (4/26) is Arbor Day, another free event day at the park with more of the above.

Evan's fave part was the animals (goats, kids, chicks and ducklings). At least he smiled during his time with the animals. The rest of the time there, he was *very* serious... but then again, farming is serious stuff. Gunnar, however, knows that on the farm, all work and no play is just plain silly. Maybe next time Evan will enjoy the farm experience more.

In short, I recommend you consider a couple of hours there at an event just to enjoy the farm fun.

  2. Due to poor timing on our part, we only had about 45 minutes at the farm with Solomon. However, it made me want to return, since he was just warming up (it seems to take him 30 minutes everywhere we go) when it was time to leave. He was pretty intrigued by the tractors, and even more so by the animals and all the open space. So, yes, we will definitely go again. Perhaps we can do a playgroup outing? If anyone has any routes other than Georgia Avenue to take, however, I'd love to hear them - traffic is partly why we got there so late.

    Cheers, Joanna
