this saturday instead of sunday? may 30th?

Hi all - I was wondering if anyone else would rather do playgroup on Saturday this week instead of Sunday? I have a conflict on Sunday - those darn graduates and their parties - and selfishly want to do both playgroup and the party! The weather is supposed to be nice on Saturday. I was thinking of setting up the wading pool and sprinklers in the backyard and thought it might be fun to have a little baby water sports. I also have a slip n' slide for the older toddlers (Gunnar is not yet a huge fan of the sns sadly). Please let me know if you like the idea of Saturday. I was thinking the usual time of 10 am ish.

Summer Movies for Tots

I saw this on the SS Moms listserv and thought I should re-post here. Free movies? The way I see it -- absolutely nothing to lose if Evan screams halfway through!

Our daycare is closed the week of June 22nd. I see that Despereaux is playing that week which means Evan and Grandma (in from CO) will be enjoying the movie either T or W of that week. And, we may have to play hookie and go see Curious George with Evan after the 4th of July holiday. =)

Since your daycare providers may be taking time off this summer, this list may come in handy! Happy movie-watching!

everyone's babies ok? my nanny came home from the park this morning with a story about another nanny w/ 2 kids in a stroller being hit by a bicyclist on sligo creek trail. frustratingly she didn't have the nanny's name, but it sounded like one of the little boy's was hurt...

Let's try this again

Will anyone be in town this weekend?

Sebastian and I will host the playgroup this Sunday.

10am.

May 17 at my house

Hi all,
not sure if many of you saw my offer to host this coming Sunday, the 17th. I'm up for trying the afternoon as Rebecca R suggested -- maybe about 3 - 5 pm? As we get closer to the weekend, if you think you can make it, please let me know.

We're at 1612 Cody Dr. Wouldn't it be nice if the weather is a repeat of yesterday?

Truck Touch -- This Saturday

Evan, Jon and I plan to head to Truck Touch on Sat to be held at Silver Spring Nursery School on New Hampshire Ave. Last summer, Evan and I went to Truck Day that was held here in the neighborhood at KFGDC and Evan enjoyed it as much as a 9 month old could at that age. It was cool!

I figure this should be fun for kids of all ages (including adults). Cost is $3/person (under 2 are free). Lots of cool trucks. I for one can't wait to show Evan the pop-up camper... brings back great memories of camping trips with my family.

For more info on the trucks, location, etc. check out: http://www.silverspringnurseryschool.org/trucktouch/index.php

Maybe we will see you there.

One Observation about the Blog

Interestingly, I receive all original blog posts but I do NOT receive the comments.... So, for instance, I saw Joanna's posts about Solomon being sick, but did not receive Jessie's offer to have it at her house. Luckily we connected via phone. Does anyone know how I can change my settings to receive all posts?

CPR for 1 - 8 y.o.

Before Evan was born, Jon and I took an Infant CPR class at Holy Cross. Now that Evan is over the age of one, I recently took the next CPR class at HCH which is designed for kids 1 - 8 y.o. I thought it was pretty good. In addition to CPR, we went over choking, basic home safety, basic first aid (very basic), fire safety.

If you haven't already, I recommend this next class -- CPR is slightly different at this age, and to be honest, it was a good refresher on safety in general.

Ciao.

Phone Numbers

Hi All,

I recommend we share phone numbers so that we can get in touch easily in case of sick ones, change in plans, babysitting swaps, etc.

I will compile. Please send to smjarosz@yahoo.com. =)

Solomon Has a Fever

Ugh, I guess this is just not meant to be. It was still 101 when I put him to bed, about an hour after giving him tylenol & he clearly doesn't feel well (if I wasn't holding him, he kept laying down on the floor). If he's clearly all better and the weather is okay, I'd be fine bringing him out to the playground, but I don't want to subject anyone to his/our germs up close.

Elaine, I'm sure this had something to do with the Quiet Room....

Head Count for Sunday

It looks like it will be raining and kind of cool tomorrow, so if people want to get together, my house makes most sense. Let me know if you're planning to come though, so I can make sure the floors are clean...

We may be up for the park on Sunday morning -- I'll have to see how it goes. I do want to host playgroup relatively soon though -- Let's plan on May 17 at my house.
